I am a single mother of four sons with autism who resides in a remote community in northern BC. Living in a small remote community, it is difficult to find supports and resources locally. I’ve advocated for services in my community and have tried to build awareness as well. I also have worked with families in small remote communities in my surrounding area. As an involved member of Nak’azdli Whut’en First Nations, I help keep AutismBC a culturally safe organization and provide input from an indigenous perspective.
I spent every summer as a child on my families private island on Stuart Lake. It has been in our family since time immemorial. Walking the on the same ground as my ancestors gives me a sense of pride and strength.
