“Connecting with Your Grandchild on the Spectrum Through Storytelling” Coming This Fall From AutismBC

  • AutismBC is excited to announce an upcoming program specifically for grandparents: Connecting with Your Grandchild on the Spectrum Though Storytelling is coming to the AutismBC Lending Library this fall, thanks to a generous grant from Autism Welcome Here.

    If you’re a grandparent of someone on the spectrum we’d like to present the program to you and welcome your feedback. If you’re interested in attending the program in the fall, we’d like to meet you to cater the program to your needs as best we can.  

    Focus Group Date: Thursday, September 6th 11am-12 noon at the Pacific Autism Family Network (Vancity room on the 2nd floor) 

    Focus Group Agenda:  

    Program introduction and discussion of each session: 

    Session 1 – Intro to ASD 

    Session 2 – Literacy & ASD 

    Session 3 – Making Reading Videos 

    Session 4 – Engaging Storytelling Techniques 

    Session 5 – A Visit to the Richmond Public Library 

    Session 6 – Putting it all Together and Sharing Successes

    Program Info: 

    There is a $10 registration fee for this program. However, no one will be turned away for lack of funds. The program is open to any grandparent in the community, whether your family is waiting for assessment, diagnosed, or considering your options. 

    Dates: October 24, 31 Nov. 7, 14, 20, 27 (Wednesdays). Times to be confirmed.
