As an adult\, I still sometimes forget to go play outside when I am working on a new painting or pottery project\, but luckily my two sons can be pretty persuasive! I believe that when we provide the tools and environment for children to explore their creativity\, it has the ability so shape them for life\, which is exactly what the mission is at Creative Flow Craft Studio. \nAs the owner of a licensed daycare program here in Kelowna from 2010-2017\, I am proud to have had the opportunity to touch the lives of so many children in our community throughout the years\, and am excited to continue to do so through the arts. \nOur Values – Providing a safe\, creative environment that values the process over the product \nCreative Flow Craft Studio was born out of a desire to allow children to explore many different aspects of fine arts\, with diverse materials and opportunities. We believe that providing a creative and flexible environment and a variety of tools\, allows children to open their minds to endless possibility. We value the concept of honouring the process rather than the product\, which invites children to develop a positive\, exploratory relationship with the arts\, and fosters positive self esteem. Without external pressure or influence\, children allow their own creative style to emerge and develop\, which is the foundation in which a true artist can blossom. \nhttps://www.creativeflow.studio/

Shyla was raised away from her Indigenous community in an urban area and is grateful to have settled in Prince George on the traditional unceded territory of the Lheidli T’enneh. \nShyla learned to bead three years ago as a way of reconnecting and rediscovering her Indigenous culture and history. Shyla is a self-taught beadwork artist but has learned many techniques along the way from other talented Indigenous artists. \nShyla balances the use of contemporary and traditional beadwork designs and techniques along with the use of traditional materials in her work. Shyla is constantly inspired by ancestor pieces\, historical beadwork pieces that are often found in museums\, art galleries\, and personal collections. These designs heavily influence Shyla’s work through materials\, colour\, and pattern choices. Shyla strives to keep our traditions alive through her beadwork that can be shared with future generations. \nShyla’s work has been displayed at the Amelia Douglas Institute and Omineca Arts Centre along with various online group exhibitions. Shyla facilitates beading workshops with Indigenous non-profits to share cultural knowledge and traditions while engaging youth. \nAn example of Shyla’s beading work.\n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nAbout AutismBC Goes: \nAt AutismBC Goes events\, we aim to foster a sense of community and belonging\, ensuring that cost is never a barrier to participation.
