SUMMARY:AutismBC Socials: Pokemon Jr's Club (Richmond)
DESCRIPTION:Pokemon Jr’s Club is an inclusive social club for youth 6–16 years of age.* \nDate: First Saturday of the month\, February 4th\nTime: 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm\nLocation: Pacific Autism Family Network\, 3688 Cessna Drive\, Richmond.\nCost: Free \nEnjoy a shared passion and meet up for games and activities! Come in costumes if you like! \nThis event will be a low-key event — we will be playing games.  If you have a Pokemon-themed game or puzzle\, please bring it along. \nNo need to bring anything else\, unless\, of course\, you want to trade cards or show off your Pokemon stuff! \nThis month we will be playing a game of my own design.  This is the key part – to set up for the game\, I will be hiding Pokémon cards all around the PAFN.  It is critical that you ask the club members not to touch the cards before we start the game!  They can look if they want\, but no touching!!!   \nEveryone will get prizes for the game at the end and these prizes will likely be candy themed for valentines day.  If your child does NOT like candy\, or has a food intolerance\, please send me an email so I can make sure they get a non-food based prize.  Also\, make sure they remind me at game time in case my mind forgets! \nPlease be advised the PAFN may be video recording some of our meetings to showcase our group. If this makes you uncomfortable\, please let us know\, and we can try to have you move to a different area during filming. Although I cannot guarantee that you won’t appear in a photo during this event\, please keep that in mind. \nSpecial thanks to the PAFN and AutismBC for their generous support of our club.   \n*Older participants are welcome as volunteers/mentors. Our Computer-based Introduction to Minecraft hosted by Elysium on Zoom is an inclusive space for Minecraft enthusiasts to come together and play! Our mission is to inspire connection through sharing tips\, tricks\, and playing together.  \nHow:  We bring you our monthly Minecraft Socials in partnership with Elysium\, a non-profit building a Minecraft community for neurodivergent kids! Come meet and play with other kids who love Minecraft over a moderated Zoom video call.  \nWhen: February 21\, 2023 from 4:00 – 5:00pm\, Zoom \nWho: If you’ve been playing Minecraft for less than a year or if you’ve never played Minecraft before — this is the right group for you. The Elysium Minecraft server is a whitelisted supportive and inclusive environment. It is available any time outside the monthly event for unstructured\, safe play and social connection. This AutismBC Social Minecraft Club is administered by Michael & Serene\, volunteers with the Elysium team.  \nWhile activities may range from month-to-month\, we will be playing on Elysium’s modded RPG survival world. We will focus on teaching and practicing the fundamentals of the game\, including:  \n\nBuilding any structure your heart desires \nExploring a survival world \nFarming and taming pets\nBuy\, sell and trade resources from shopkeepers\, villagers and other players\nParticipate in group challenges like build battles & mini games while learning structured team play \n\nCost: Free\, membership is required to participate in the event. \nDon’t have an AutismBC free membership?
