SUMMARY:AutismBC Socials: Introduction to Minecraft
DESCRIPTION:Intro to Minecraft (Beginner Social Group) \nA welcoming\, beginner-friendly Minecraft program for children and youth new to the game or new to our programs. Sessions are quieter and slower-paced\, giving participants room to explore\, build confidence\, and connect with peers in a supported\, moderated environment. \nHosted by Elysium as part of AutismBC’s Socials Program.  \nWhat to Expect \n\nLearn Minecraft basics and get familiar with the Elysium server\nBuild\, explore a survival world\, farm\, tame pets\, and trade with villagers\nJoin group challenges and mini-games\nConnect with peers over Zoom while playing together\n\nThe Elysium server is private and allowlisted — only approved participants can join — and stays open for unstructured play between sessions. \nWhen & Where \n\nLast Tuesday of each month\, 4:00–5:00 PM PT (unless the following Thursday falls outside that month\, or otherwise notified)\nPlay on the Elysium Minecraft server; join the live session via Zoom\n\nWho It’s For \n\nAutismBC members and their children/youth\nBest fit for players with under a year of Minecraft experience who are new to Elysium or this program\nCapacity: 12 participants\, with a waitlist once full\n\nFacilitators: Michael and Serene (Elysium team) \nCost \n\nProgram is free\nRequires a one-time Minecraft Java Edition purchase (PC/Mac) and an active AutismBC membership\n\nWhat You’ll Need \n\nPC\, Mac\, or Linux (no Chromebooks)\nMinecraft Java Edition (not Bedrock)\nMouse\, mic\, and headphones/earbuds\nReliable internet and the Zoom app\nWebcam and second monitor recommended\, not required\n\nGetting Started \n\nNew to Minecraft? We support various aspects of these clubs so our staff\, facilitators\, and volunteers can do what they do best: support and connect the autism community through inclusive groups\, clubs\, and events. \n  \nAbout Elysium \nElysium is a Minecraft server built for neurodivergent kids to connect\, build\, and explore together. It offers a safe\, moderated space where players can be themselves while developing social connections through shared creative and cooperative play. AutismBC partners with Elysium to bring this community to participants in our Socials Program. \n
