SUMMARY:Community Event: Connecting Queer Communities (CQC) Social Mixer (New Westminster)
DESCRIPTION:  \nReal Talk’s brand new social group\, Connecting Queer Communities (CQC)\, is hosting it’s first-ever social mixer on Friday\, March 31st from 6 – 8pm. It will take place at 336 Columbia Street in New Westminster\, just across the road from the Columbia Expo Skytrain Station.   \nCQC is a social group for 2SLGBTQIA+ folks with cognitive disabilities to connect with each other\, and with the broader queer community of the Lower Mainland. \nAbout the Mixer \nIt’s a completely free event\, we’ll have snacks and non-alcoholic beverages\, and folks are welcome to drop by anytime they want. We’ll have non-identifying posters up saying ‘CQC’ along the windows and doors so folks can find us. We’ll have stim toys available\, dimmer lighting for folks with light sensitivities\, and earplugs for folks with audio sensitivities. ASL interpretation will be provided. Attending this mixer does not mean folks must join the group!   \nWe hope folks will come by and share what they’d like from a group like CQC: what events would they like to attend this year? What could CQC offer that would be of interest to them? We can cover some or or all of the transport and ticket costs for any events the the group plans. \nWe’re hoping the mixer is a chance for folks to meet us\, ask any questions they might have\, and share what they would envision for the group; this event\, like all of our events this year\, will also be an opportunity to connect with other 2SLGBTQIA+ folks with cognitive disabilities from across the city. If folks need support getting to or from the event\, they are welcome to email Kelsey Savage (she/they)\, Certified Sexual Health Educator.  \n

SUMMARY:AutismBC Socials: Pokemon Jr's Club (Richmond)
DESCRIPTION:Pokemon Jr’s Club is an inclusive social club for youth 6–16 years of age.* \nEnjoy a shared passion and meet up for games and activities! Come in costumes if you like! \nThis event will be a low-key event — we will be playing games.  If you have a Pokemon-themed game or puzzle\, please bring it along. \nNo need to bring anything else\, unless\, of course\, you want to trade cards or show off your Pokemon stuff! \nDate: First Saturday of the month\, February 4th\nTime: 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm\nLocation: Pacific Autism Family Network\, 3688 Cessna Drive\, Richmond.\nCost: Free \n  \n \n  \nClub Activities: This month we will be playing a game of my own design.  This is the key part – to set up for the game\, I will be hiding Pokémon cards all around the PAFN.  It is critical that you ask the club members not to touch the cards before we start the game!  They can look if they want\, but no touching!!!   \nEveryone will get prizes for the game at the end and these prizes will likely be candy themed for valentines day.  If your child does NOT like candy\, or has a food intolerance\, please send me an email so I can make sure they get a non-food based prize.  Also\, make sure they remind me at game time in case my mind forgets! \nImportant Information: Please be advised the PAFN may be video recording some of our meetings to showcase our group. If this makes you uncomfortable\, please let us know\, and we can try to have you move to a different area during filming. Although I cannot guarantee that you won’t appear in a photo during this event\, please keep that in mind. \n\n*Older participants are welcome as volunteers/mentors. Do you want to help out? If anyone knows any youth who would like to volunteer for the club\, please reach out to Pokemonclubjr@gmail.com \nSpace is limited\, and Registration is Required\, including your friends and extra family. \n  \nNote from Organizers: Special thanks to the PAFN and AutismBC for their generous support of our club.
