Meet our host for the 2019 BC Excellence in Autism Awards

  • Introducing Jake Anthony, our host for the 2019 BC Excellence in Autism Awards.

    AutismBC is thrilled to announce that Jake Anthony will be returning to host the 2nd Annual British Columbia Excellence in Autism Awards.

    Jake is a professional theatre actor and acting instructor. He’s worked with such theatre companies as the Arts Club, Presentation House Theatre, Realwheels Theatre, The Virtual Stage, Theatre Conspiracy, Metro Theatre and Firehall Arts Centre. He also teaches theatre and acting for children and youth through City of Burnaby Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services. From 2013-2018, Jake taught Burnaby’s first inclusive theatre class for people of all diverse abilities He’s a graduate of the William Davis Centre for Actors’ Study at VanArts.

    As a person who identifies as living with autism, Jake has been an advocate for persons with diverse abilities since 2006. He’s had the great pleasure of advocating, serving on Boards of Directors, committees and being a conference speaker for various organisations such as Planned Lifetime Advocacy Network, Inclusion BC, Kickstart Disability Arts & Culture, Autism BC, Burnaby Association for Community Inclusion, Autism Canada and the BC Council for Families. He previously sat on the City of Burnaby Access Advisory Committee and is a past Member and Chair of TransLink’s Access Transit Users’ Advisory Committee.

    In late 2018, Jake was honoured to be appointed to the Community Living BC Board of Directors by The Honourable Shane Simpson, Minister of Social Development and Poverty Reduction. He’s thrilled that Autism BC has invited him back to host the 2019 BC Excellence in Autism Awards!
