AutismBC Goes BRAINBOW Make & Take Workshop (Smithers) (FULL)

March 19 @ 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm

AutismBC Goes to BRAINBOW Make & Take Workshop — An Activity During Neurodiversity Celebration Week in Smithers!

A BRAINBOW ‘Make & Take’ workshop is not your average crafting experience. Participants will have the opportunity to design and craft their own personalized bracelets using letter beads and various glass, gemstone, metal, and acrylic beads. Each bracelet will uniquely reflect its maker, featuring a meaningful message such as a favourite word, a loved one’s name, or an inspirational phrase. The bracelet intends to serve as a personal reminder, affirmation, or mantra to support the wearer throughout the day.

Inclusivity and Accessibility:

The BRAINBOW workshop is designed to be inclusive and sensory-friendly. It has a small group size (the maximum number is 12) to ensure personalized attention and a comfortable environment. The activity will be held at the EdGE Learning Centre in Smithers, which offers ample space for participants to work independently, move around, and have appropriate lighting. We are committed to ensuring that all community members feel welcome and supported, and additional accommodations can be provided upon request.

Benefits for Participants:

  • Unleash creativity through a unique avenue for self-expression.
  • Connect with others in a fun and interactive way through hands-on crafting.

About Neurodiversity Celebration Week & BRAINBOW:

In 2018, Neurodiversity Celebration Week was launched with a bold mission: to reshape the narrative surrounding neurodiversity and promote the appreciation and celebration of the unique talents found in neurodiverse individuals. In Smithers, a few local organizations dedicated to championing accessibility, diversity, and inclusion have come together to organize a series of engaging activities during Neurodiversity Week from March 18th to March 24th, 2024. Among these initiatives is the BRAINBOW Make & Take event. Founded in 2023, BRAINBOW Accessories is a small family business in Smithers with a simple yet powerful purpose: to infuse conversations about neurodiversity and mental health with colour, light, and levity.
