AutismBC Socials: Introduction to Minecraft

June 24, 2025 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Build & Connect: A Calm Start in Minecraft

Building a world is even more fun with friends—especially in a space that moves at your pace.

This program is designed for children and youth who are new to both our programs and Minecraft. It offers a welcoming, beginner-friendly environment ideal for players who prefer a quieter, slower-paced experience. These sessions will help your child become familiar with the Minecraft server and mini-games while also building connections with peers over Zoom.

If your child is new to Minecraft or prefers a more relaxed play experience, this is the perfect place to start!

Intro to Minecraft, hosted by Elysium, is part of AutismBC’s Socials program. This program aims to create inclusive spaces for kids, teens, and youth to connect through shared interests. Participants will learn about Minecraft, share tips, and enjoy playing together in a supportive and friendly environment.

How:

  • Monthly Minecraft Socials hosted in partnership with Elysium, a non-profit dedicated to building a Minecraft server community for neurodivergent kids.
  • Meet and play with other kids who love Minecraft in a supportive, moderated environment.
  • Participate in the fun over a Zoom video call and on a private, white-listed Minecraft server.
  • Enjoy a safe, inclusive space tailored for neurodivergent players to connect and share their love for Minecraft.

When:

  • Last Tuesday of each month from 4:00 – 5:00pm

Where:

  • Minecraft Server: The program takes place on a private, white-listed Minecraft server hosted by Elysium. This server is exclusively accessible to registered participants, ensuring a safe and controlled environment for all players.
  • Zoom Video Call: Participants connect to the program via Zoom for real-time interaction with their peers. The Zoom call serves as a platform for socializing, guidance, and support throughout the session.

Who:

  • AutismBC members and their children: This program is specifically designed for children and youth who are members of AutismBC and their families.
  • Ideal Participants: This program is ideally suited for children and youth who:
    • Have been playing Minecraft for less than a year
    • Have never played Minecraft on the Elysium server before
    • Benefit from a quieter, slower-paced gaming experience
  • Program Administration:
    • Michael and Serene, program facilitators with the Elysium team, administer the Intro to Minecraft sessions and provide support to ensure a welcoming, inclusive environment for all participants.

What:

The program provides a supportive, beginner-friendly environment for neurodivergent children and youth to explore Minecraft and connect with peers in a safe, moderated setting. The Elysium Minecraft server is whitelisted to ensure a secure space for all players and is available for unstructured, safe play and social connection outside of the monthly events.

While the activities may vary each month, we will primarily play on Elysium’s modded RPG survival world. During these sessions, we’ll focus on teaching and practicing the fundamentals of the game, including:

  • Building any structure you can imagine
  • Exploring a Survival World
  • Farming and taming pets
  • Trading resources with shopkeepers, villagers, and other players
  • Participating in group challenges like building battles and mini-games, while learning how to work as a team

AutismBC Socials

Social clubs are a great way to make friends, build confidence, and strengthen communities. AustismBC has been a supporter of social clubs for autistic kids, teens, and adults as well as siblings and friends. We assist with various aspects of these clubs so our staff and volunteers can do what they do best: support and connect the autism community through inclusive groups, clubs, and events.
