Statement from AutismBC on the Loss of Parker

July 30, 2026

Our hearts are with Parker’s family, friends, and everyone who loves and cares for him. AutismBC and the autistic community we serve share in this grief, and we hold Parker and his family close.

To everyone who searched, waited, and hoped alongside this family, the first responders, volunteers, and neighbours who gave so much of themselves over these difficult weeks, thank you. Your care reflects something true about this community, that when one of our own goes missing, we show up for each other.

Parker’s story asks something of all of us going forward.

AutismBC remains committed to walking alongside families and caregivers, and to strengthening the training, support, and connection that help autistic people and those who love them feel safer and less alone. This work continues in partnership with Canada’s Autism Strategy and with communities across the country who share this commitment.

We hold Parker in our hearts, and we carry this forward together.

Suzanne Perreault

Before becoming Executive Director of AutismBC, I worked as a woman’s counsellor focusing on neurodiversity, DEI consultant, TEDx speaker, disabilities advocate, and former School Trustee. I’m also autistic and parent to three autistic young adults, bringing a unique perspective to my work. With over 18 years of community involvement and mentorship, I support neurodivergent families through an anti-oppression lens. I’ve worked with schools and educators on Inclusion and Trauma-Informed Practices, aiming for fair and equitable access to education. My efforts have been recognized with nominations for the Community Impact Award with AutismBC and the Diversity Award from the Fraser Valley Cultural & Diversity Awards.

I am almost as much of an introvert as I am an extrovert. As I mature, I am sure I am more introverted but most people couldn’t “read” that on me.
